1/3 C granulated sugar
3 T corn starch
1/4 tsp. salt
1 1/2 C milk
2 egg yolks, beaten slightly
2 T butter
2 tsp. vanilla
2 egg whites
1/4 C granulated sugar
1 9 inch baked pastry shell
2 bananas

In medium saucepan, combine the 1/3 C sugar with the cornstarch and salt. Blend in milk, then egg yolks. Coo, stirring over medium heat, till thickened and bubbly. Remove from heat; stir in butter and vanilla. Cool to room temp. Beat egg white till soft peaks form; gradually add the remaining sugar and beat till stiff peaks form. Fold into egg yolk mixture. In pastry shell, alternate layers of banana slices and cream filling. Cover and chill. Top with whipped cream and additional sliced bananas.
