Boiling potatoes (Red Bliss or Yukon Gold)
Bacon, fried crisp (save some of the grease)
Red wine vinegar
Onion, finely minced or grated
Kosher dills (Claussen) diced, and some juice
Hard salami, thin sliced, and torn into small pieces
Salt and pepper, to taste

Directions:
Boil and peel potatoes. Cut into medium sized, chunky pieces. Combine, while still very warm, with bacon, onion, salami and dills. Season to taste with red wine vinegar, some dill juice, some warm bacon grease, salt and pepper. Serve warm or at room temperature. (While mixing, sort of mash some of the potatoes - they don't need to be evenly sliced or diced.)

Frann's friend, Winnanne Poole, invited her for a family weekend at Lake Rabun - back during their high school days. Winnanne had a Czechoslovakian aunt who prepared this salad and Frann returned from the trip with this recipe. It is a very good combination of flavors.
