1 c. butter, 1/2 c. sifted confectioners' sugar, 1 tsp. vanilla, 2 1/4 c. flour, 1/4 tsp. salt, 3/4 c. finely chopped walnuts, sugar with red and green food coloring.

Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter to soften; thoroughly cream butter and sugar. Add vanilla. Sift flour and salt together; stir into creamed mixture. Add chopped nuts. Chill dough. Shape into 1 inch balls. Place 2 1/2 inches apart on ungreased baking sheet. Bake at 400º for 10 to 12 minutes until set but not brown. Immediately remove from cookie sheet and roll in colored sugar. Cool. Roll half in green sugar and half in red sugar.. To tint sugar, add a few drops of red or green food coloring to sugar and shake in a covered jar.
