1/2 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
1 fresh egg
1 1/2 cup applesauce
2 1/2 cup flour
1 teaspoon soda
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon cloves
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup raisins
1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Directions:

Cream shortening and sugar. Add egg and applesauce. Combine dry ingredients. Add to wet mixture. Bake @ 400 degrees for 8-10 min. on greased cookie sheet.
