1/4 cup soft shortening
3/4 cup sugar
1 egg
2/3 cup mashed bananas
3 tbsp sour milk or buttermilk
1 1/2 cups sifted flour
1/2 tsp double acting baking powder
1/2 tsp soda
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 cup chopped nuts

Directions:
Directions:
Mix shortening and sugar. Beat throughly and add 1 egg. Stir in bananas and milk. Sift together dry ingredients. Stir into shortening and sugar mixture adding 1/2 cup chopped nuts. Line a greased 5 x 10 x 3 inch bread pan with 2 thicknesses of plain paper. Grease paper. Pour in batter. Bake about 1 hour at 350 degrees. You could use parchment paper instead of plain paper.
