French Onion Soup Recipe

4 cans Campbell's beef broth
4 small OR 2 large onions
4 T. butter
1/4 c. dry Vermouth
4 oz. Gruyere or Provolone cheese slices
French baguette

Directions:
Directions:
Saute onions in butter. Add cans of broth and Vermouth. Bring to a boil and simmer at least 1 hour. Can simmer indefinitely.
Slice baguette. Toast. Place a slice of toasted baguette in each soup bowl. Cover with a slice of cheese. Pour hot soup over the top and cover with another slice of cheese to seal the bowl. Melt under broiler until golden and bubbly.

This recipe is the one I compare all other French Onion Soups to. I've yet to find a match, even in the fanciest of restaurants! Thank you Mother!
