2 cups sugar
1 2/3 cups butter or Crisco
2 eggs
5 1/2 cups flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp nutmeg

Directions:
Directions:
Cream sugar and butter/Crisco together. Sift the flour, baking powder and nutmeg together. Add dry ingredients alternately with 1 tsp soda dissolved in 1 cup buttermilk. Chill dough several hours. Roll 3/8 inch thick. Cut out cookies and bake at 350 for 6 minutes.
