"As I ate the oysters with their strong taste of the sea and their faint metallic taste that the cold white wine washed away, leaving only the sea taste and the succulent texture, and as I drank their cold liquid from each shell and washed it down with the crisp taste of the wine, I lost the empty feeling and began to be happy, and to make plans."--Ernest Hemingway

Ingredients:
Ingredients:
1lb. brown sugar
1/4 cup Montreal steak seasoning or jerk seasoning
2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
3 tablespoons steak sauce (whatever you have will do)
honey to taste (optional) or corn syrup (optional)
1/2 tsp garlic

Directions:
Directions:
Blend all of the ingredients in a medium mixing bowl until blended well.
There is nothing in the mix to go bad and it can be stored for 4 weeks in the refrigerator.

This recipe is especially good on chicken. Trim skin and fat from chicken and lay end upon end in roasting pan. Roast at 350 degrees for 45 minutes, then brush with sauce. Pour anything extra over the top and let it marinate for 10 minutes before returning to the oven.

Personal Notes:
Personal Notes:
This recipe came about in an emergency when preparing food for a church function. It's amazing how useful the odds and ends are when in a bind.
The recipe can be changed based on what's in your cabinet. As long as there is a spice for flavor and a sugar to make it sticky the family will love it.
