2 lbs. ground beef
to slim this recipe down use ground turkey
4 Tbsp. chili powder
2 tsp. salt
1 lg. onion chopped
1 green pepper chopped
2 cans tomatoes or tomato sauce (15 oz ea.)
1 cup water
2 bay leaves
2 can red kidney beans (drained)

Directions:
Directions:
Brown beef, add chili powder and salt. Add onion, pepper, tomatoes, bay leaves and water. Cover and simmer for 1 1/2 hours. Stir now and then. Remove leaves, add kidney beans. Simmer another 30 minutes.

Add tomatoes or sauce to your liking. If you like a thicker chili - use some tomato paste as well. You can also cook some pasta and add to chili for a very thick soup.
