1 - 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup whole wheat flour
2 tbsp sugar
1 tbsp baking powder
1/2 tsp cream of tartar
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 cup shortening
1 egg
1/2 cup milk

Directions:
Directions:
Combine first five ingredients. Cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Beat egg and milk; stir into dry ingredients until a ball forms. Turn onto a floured surface, knead 5-6 times. Roll to 1/2 inch thickness. Cut with 2" biscuit cutter. Place on ungreased baking sheet and bake 400 for 10 - 12 minutes or until golden brown.
