Put the pound of beans into your crockpot, and fill with water. Cover, and let sit overnight.
In the morning, drain off the water, rinse beans, and refill with water.
Add 2 T of Canna-bacon grease.
Plug in crockpot, and let sit.. Till the next evening. Be sure to give the beans a couple careful stirs while cooking.
The next evening, check the beans. They should be nicely cooked. If they are particularly old or tough beans, they may require cooking till the next morning. I have only encountered this a couple times.
If the beans are ready, drain them, rinse them, them mash them with a potato masher.
In a saute pan, heat the other 4 T. of canna-bacon grease.
Add the mashed beans, and incorporate the grease and beans well.
Reduce heat to low, and allow to bubble for at least a half hour before serving. Stir frequently.
If you like to keep the beans on hold, simply put it back into the crockpot :)
