4 lg. onions, sliced
1/4 c. butter
6 c. beef broth (I use au ju)
2 t. salt
pepper

Directions:
Directions:
Saute onions in butter in large pan until lightly brown. (Cooking the onions slowly is the flavor secret). Stir in beef broth, salt and pepper. Bring to a boil. Cover and simmer 30 minutes. Place slices of French bread on top and a slice of Swiss cheese. Broil 3 minutes.
