1 1/3 cup margarine or butter
2 cups sugar
1 cup brown sugar
4 eggs
4 tsp. vanilla
4 1/2 cups flour (add more as needed to handle dough)
2 tsp. soda
2 tsp. salt
1 (12 oz.) package of chocolate chips
1 cup chopped nuts (optional).

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening with sugars. Add eggs and vanilla and mix well. Add dry ingredients slowly, stirring well. Dough should be fairly stiff. Drop by spoonsful on lightly greased baking sheets. Bake at 350 degrees for 12-13 minutes. Makes at least 4 dozen cookies. They freeze well.
