Cabbage
Pint jars
salt
sugar

Directions:
Directions:
Chop cabbage and pack fairly tight in jars. Add 1 tsp salt, and 1 tsp sugar to each jar. Pour boiling water over cabbage. Seal. Let sit for several weeks to ferment. It's best to set the jars on cardboard as this can be messy as some of the liquid may seep out of the jars as time goes by.

My dad loved kraut and making kraut. He always got plenty of cabbage planted early in anticipation of kraut making.
