1 c. shortening
4 eggs
4 c. flour
1 c. pecans, chopped
1 lb. box brown sugar
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350°. Cream shortening & brown sugar. Add eggs, one at a time & beat. Add vanilla & mix. Add flour, one cup at a time, until well blended. Add baking soda & beat. Add pecans & mix. Roll the dough into 4 or 5 "sausage" type rolls (1 1/2 to 2 in. diameter). Wrap in waxed paper & refrigerate for 2 hours. Remove the "sausage" type rolls from the refrigerator & slice them into 1/2 in. discs. Place slices on ungreased cookie sheet & bake for 15 minutes. They will be soft when done, but will "set" pretty quickly. Remove from cookie sheet & let cool on a rack.
