30 saltine crackers
1/2 cup butter plus 1/4 cup
3 cups thinly sliced onions
1/2 lb. sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
3 eggs, beaten
1 1/2 cup milk
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. pepper

Directions:
Directions:
Make a crust of crackers and 1/2 cup butter. Saute onions in remaining butter until golden brown. Press crust in pan and alternate with onions and cheese. Scald milk. Cool and pour over mixture. Add 3 beaten eggs, salt and pepper. Bake at 350 until it sets like custard.
