2 tablespoons butter
1/3 cup finely chopped onion
2 tablespoons sugar
6 cups shredded cabbage
1/2 cup red wine vinegar
2 tepoons salt
1 cup diced apples ( approx. 1 large apple)
2 Tablespoons brown sugar

1 cup crumbled bacon (opt)
sour cream (opt)

Directions:
Directions:
In a large skillet melt butter, saute onions with 2 Tbsp sugar for about 5 minutes, Stir in cabbage, vinegar and salt; cover and simmer for about 10 minutes; add apples and brown sugar; cover and simmer for another 5 minutes.

Add the bacon if you like.

If you like top with sour cream.

I sometimes use red and green cabbage, just for the color, and yes I do add the bacon.
