2 3/4 cups water
1 cup cornmeal
1 cup water
1 teaspoon salt

Directions:
Directions:
In a medium saucepan bring the 2 3/4 cups water to boiling. In a bowl combine cornmeal, the cup of water and the salt, slowly add to the boiling water, stirring constantly. Cook and stir till boiling. Reduce heat, cover and cook over low heat 10 to 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Fried Mush

Prepare Cornmeal Mush as above, except pour hot mush into 8x4x2 loaf pan. Cool, chill several hours or overnight. Turn out of pan and cut in 1/2-inch-thick slices. Fry slowly in butter or margarine for 10 to 12 minutes on each side or till brown and crisp. Serve with butter and syrup.
