1 c dates cut-up
1 tsp lemon juice
1/2 c water
1/2 tsp grated lemon rind
1/2 c sugar
1 c finely chopped walnuts
1 - 131/2 ounce pkg plain cookies mix
1 egg beaten
1 tbsp

Directions:
Directions:
Mix dates, rind, juice, sugar and water and cook until thick. Add nuts and cool. Mix cookie mix with egg and 1 tbsp water. Roll into 2 rectangles (7X10 inches); spread with date mixture and roll as jelly roll. Chill and slice 1/4 inch thick. Bake 8-10 minutes at 375.
