I can black beans with spices
1 onion, chopped
I cup shredded cheddar

1/2 cup mild tomato salsa
2 tablespoons lemon or lime juice
2 tablespoons fresh cilantro, chopped
1/4 teaspoon ground cumin (optional)
Sea salt and pepper, to taste
More cilantro for garnish

Saute onion in oil until tender and add black beans cooking until warm. Add salsa, lemon or lime juice, and cheese until melted and smooth. Add chopped cilantro, and cumin. Serve with chips with wedges of whole grain pitas with avocado slices on the side. Garnish the black bean dip with cilantro.

This delicious black bean dip can be stored in an air-tight container in the refrigerator for up to two days.
