Directions:
Directions:
Wash pears, peel, cut in half or slices.
Treat to prevent darkening. (Add 2 Tablespoons each salt & vinegar to one gallon water. Do not leave over 20 minutes.)
Hot pack using a light syrup. Cook pears 5-6 minutes in syrup.(Make syrup - 2 cups sugar to 1 quart water, heat until sugar dissolves.)
Pack the fruit in jars, leave 1/2 inch head space. Cover with boiling syrup. Remove air bubbles.
Process pints 20 min. and quarts 25 min.

Mama and Daddy used to can everything possible. These pears where a delicious treat at a meal as a salad. Put lettuce, a pear half with a dollop of mayonnaise and some grated cheese on top.
