6-8 c. flour
1/2 c. granulated sugar
1 lb. raisins, boiled
1 T. salt
2 pkgs. yeast
1/4 c. warm water
2 eggs
4 c. warm milk
1/8 tsp. nutmeg, optional
1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
3 apples, peeled & diced (if desired)

Dissolve yeast with 1/4c. warm water & add remaining ingredients in large bowl/container until dough is mixed (dough is sticky). Cover & let rise 1 1/2 hours. Punch down. Let rise 1 hour. Punch down and dig out dough with large spoon. Drop (by round tablespoonfuls) into hot oil in deep fryer until golden brown. Roll in sugar (granulated or powdered - either is fine).
