1 1/3 c. softened butter
2 c. sugar
dash salt
2 eggs
3 tsp. almond flavor/extract
1 tsp. vanilla flavoring
3 c. flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
(Optional: sugar & almond slivers for garnish)

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 325º; grease two 8-inch round pans*. Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs and almond & vanilla. Mix well. Add flour, salt and baking powder to mixture. Press into cake pans. Bake 30-40 minutes or until slightly golden. Cool and cut into wedges. (*By adding another egg, this recipe also works in a 9x13 pan, cut into bars.)

NOTE: Unless you like to bake almond sticks (Dutch "bonket"), this is a simple alternative treat that will get rave reviews.
