Preheat oven to 350ºF and set a rack on lower-middle level. This can also be cooked in a crock pot on high for 5 hrs.

Mix soup mix, onions, celery chili sauce, beer and water together in a large Dutch oven or a covered casserole or crock pot.

Heat large pan add olive oil. Once hot add seasoned (salt and pepper) short ribs and braise. The ribs should be golden brown. Remove from pan and add ribs in Dutch oven or crock pot. Spoon some sauce over the top.

Cover and bake for 2 1/2 to 4 hours, turning the meat over once midway through the cooking time basting with sauce. After 3 hours, check for doneness with a fork, meat should be fork tender. If cooking in crock pot turn meat over once midway and basting with sauce about 2 hrs into cooking. Total cooking time in crock pot 5 hours on high heat.

Remove excess fat. Serve with mashed potatoes or egg noodles. Enjoy!
