1 (9 inch) pie shell, baked
2 T. butter
1 1/2 c water
1 c. brown sugar
2 T. flour (heaping)
2 eggs (separated)
4 T. granulated sugar

Directions:
Directions:
Brown butter in heavy skillet. Add 1/2 cup water and brown sugar. In another bowl mix flour, 1 c. water and 2 egg yolks. Add to first mixture and cook, stirring constantly until mixture thickens. Pour into baked pie shell. Whip 2 egg whites until stiff peaks form and gradually add granulated sugar. Top pie with this mixture and bake at 350 degrees for 12-15 minutes or until topping is browned. Cool and serve.

Kathryn gave me this recipe at my shower several months before Gary and I were married. I still have the original in her handwriting and have made this pie many times over the years. It is delicious.
