Easter Pie (Fiarono) Recipe

Pie Crust

3 cups flour
1/2 cup crisco
1/2 tsp baking powder
3 eggs

Pie Filling

1/2 lb ham (or 1 slice)
1/2 lb pepper butt (or more if desired)
1/2 stick pepperoni
4 boiled eggs cut up
1 1/2 lbs ricotta
6 eggs (raw)
1/4 lb grated macaroni cheese (e.g. Pecorino Romano)
1/2 lb swiss cheese (cut up)

Beat eggs and add milk to beaten eggs to make 1 cup. Make a well in the flour, add other ingredients and mix (dough should be on the soft side).

Boil ham, pepper butt and pepperoni together for 1/2 hour then cut in small pieces. Mix together meat, boiled eggs then ricotta, other cheeses and raw eggs.

Pie assembly
Roll out 1/2 of dough on cookie sheet. Put on meat mixture. Criss-Cross remaining 1/2 of dough on top.

Bake at 350 until brown (45 minutes). Serve cold.
