1/2 lb. sliced bacon
2 T molasses
1 T prepared mustard
1 tsp. chili powder
1/4 tsp. pepper
1 c smoked, cooked bratwurst (about 5 oz), thinly sliced
1/2 lb. ground beef
1 medium onion, chopped
1 15-oz can red kidney beans
1 15-oz can butterbeans
1 15-oz can great northern beans
1/2 c catsup
1/2 c brown sugar, packed
1/4 c bottled barbecue sauce

In a large skillet, cook bacon over medium heat until crisp. Remove from skillet and drain on paper towels. Crumble bacon and set aside. Drain bacon drippings from skillet and wipe skillet with a paper towel. Add ground beef and onion to skillet and brown. Drain well. Drain the three cans of beans, reserving the liquid. In an extra-large bowl, combine molasses, mustard, chili powder, pepper, catsup, brown sugar, and barbecue sauce. Stir in bacon, bratwurst, beef mixture, and beans. Add reserved bean liquid to reach desired consistency. Pour mixture into a 2-qt casserole. Bake, uncovered, in 350 oven for 1 hr. Remove from oven. Let stand 15 min. before serving.
