6 slices stale bread
2 tubes saltine crackers
1 ½ sticks butter, melted
2 pints oysters
Salt and pepper to taste.
4 to 5 tbsp. cream

Directions:
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Roll stale bread into coarse crumbs. Roll saltines into coarse crumbs. Mix both kinds of crumbs with melted butter. Cover bottom of ovenproof dish with a layer of crumbs. Put oysters on top, very close together. Sprinkle with salt and pepper. Add another layer of crumbs, then oysters and salt and pepper. Continue, ending with a layer of crumbs. Top with cream and bake about 20 minutes.

Serves 6 – 8.
