Oil for frying
3/4 c. yellow cornmeal
1/3 c. all purpose flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. buttermilk
1 egg
1/4 c. finely minced onions

Directions:
Directions:
Heat 2-3 inches of oil to 365F in deep fryer of deep frying pan. Combine cornmeal, flour, baking powder and salt in bowl. Add buttermilk, egg and onion until well blended. Drop batter by Tablespoons into hot oil. Fry a few at a time for 3-4 minutes or until golden brown. Turn as needed, for even browning. Drain on papertowels, and serve immediately
