1 c. sugar
2 T. butter
1 c. milk
2 c. flour
2 tsp. cinnamon
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp.vanilla
2 c. brown sugar
1 1/2 c. water

Directions:
Directions:
Cream granulated sugar with the 2 T. butter. Add milk, flour, cinnamon, baking powder and vanilla. Spread batter in greased 13X9 pan. Combine brown sugar, water and 3 T. butter in saucepan. Bring to a boil. Remove from heat and pour over top of batter. Bake at 350F (180 C) for 35-40 minutes.

This is a Pennsylvania Dutch recipe that has been in my family for years. The batter rises to form the cake and the brown sugar mixture cooks down into a caramel syrup.
