1 double package of dates chopped***
(this dates the recipe. use 2 cups of any dried fruit:
cherries, raisins, currants blueberries, mixed fruit)
2 cups sugar
2 tsps vanilla
4 eggs
2 cups chopped nuts
5 cups Bisquick
1 cup butter

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Cream butter and sugar together until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time beating after each addition.

Add bisquick slowly incorporating completely after each batch. The batter will become quite stiff. Add in dates and nuts.

Press into an 11x17 inch baking pan bake for 45 minutes to one hour. Cool

Top with powdered sugar.

This is a very old recipe my mom used to make at the holidays in place of fruit cake. She would grease her hands to pat the batter into place it would be so stiff.

Cut the recipe in half for a 9 x 13 inch baking pan.
