1/2c Butter
1/2 c white sugar
1 egg
1 c molasses
21/2 c flour
1/2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp ginger
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp cloves
1 c hot water

Directions:
Directions:
Blend together butter and sugar. Add the egg, then blend in molasses.
Sift the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, ginger, salt and cloves and slowly mix in with above mixture.
Stir in hot water.
Pour into a square 8x8 or 9x9. and bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes.
Serve with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream
