Green tomatoes, sliced 1/4 inch slices
Corn Meal
Sugar
Salt and Pepper
Water
oil for frying

Directions:
Directions:
Sweet version:
Soak sliced tomatoes in water for a couple of minutes. Mix sugar with cornmeal. Dip wet green tomatoes in cornmeal mixture. Saute on each side in hot oil until golden brown.

Savory version:
Follow recipe above only mix salt and pepper in cornmeal instead of sugar.

Fried green tomatoes are served everywhere in Charleston...but not like Mom used to make for me when she fried them in cornmeal and sugar.
