1 1/4 pounds ground beef or ground dark turkey
1 lb mild Italian sausage, casings removed
1 egg, beaten
1 small green bell pepper, chopped
1 onion, chopped
1/2 cup dry Italian bread crumbs or cream of wheat
1/2 cup milk
1 dash Worcestershire sauce
salt and pepper to taste

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Chop sausage finely. In a large bowl combine beef, sausage, egg beat, bell pepper, onion, breadcrumbs or cream of wheat, milk, Worcestershire sauce, salt and pepper. Mix together and press into a loaf pan.

Bake in the preheated oven for 1 hour, or until cooked through. Drain grease from loaf pan periodically during baking. Let stand 10 minutes before serving. Serves 6

This is so good and much better than plain old meatloaf. If you use a meatloaf pan with dripping holes that self drains you don't need to worry about the grease. You can use leaner beef or turkey but then, you really need to use the wheat cereal and not the Italian breadcrumbs and add an extra 1/8 cup of milk or light beer. Cook drinks the rest!

You can make individual meatloaf in muffin pans if you want...it's a nice presentation with some gravy dripping over and parsley on top! Roasted carrots and mashed potatoes and gravy are so good with this. Makes great sandwiches too with Swiss cheese and beef gravy.
