2 1/4 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
3/4 cup shortening
1 egg
1/2 cup maple syrup
1 teaspoon maple extract
1/2 cup walnuts chopped

Directions:
Directions:
Oven 400 degrees
In large mixer combine all ingredients except walnuts. Blend well. Stir in walnuts; mix thoroughly Drop by rounded tsp onto ungreased baking sheet. If desired top each with walnut half.
Bake 8 to 10 minutes and cool
