3 cups all purpose flour
1 tablespoon of salt
1/4 tablespoons nutmeg
4 eggs
1 cup milk
1 cup bread crumbs
1/4 lbs. butter

Directions:
Directions:
1. In a bowl, combine the flour,salt and the nutmeg.
2. Beat the eggs with a fork in a different bowl and add to the mixture;
3. Add the milk, keep stirring until the dough is soft, like a thick liquid;
4. Using a utensil for making the spatzle, drop the individual spatzle over boiling water until cooks, and remove to a serving dish;
5. Before serving, melt the butter, add the breadcrumbs until the mixture is golden and cover the spatzle in the serving dish with this mixture.

This recipe is from my grandparents' cookbook. Since my maternal grandmother's father was German, I presume it is a recipe that my grandmother put together, from her childhood. I have not made it, but remember they made it frequently to serve with stewed meat or chicken dishes.
