2 cups flour
2 tsp. sugar
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. soda
1/3 cup shortening
2/3 cup buttermilk

Directions:
Directions:
Heat oven to 450. Measure flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and soda into a bowl. Cut in shortening thoroughly. Stir in almost all the buttermilk. If dough is not pliable, add just enough milk to make dough soft and easy to roll. On a lightly floured board, knead 20 to 25 times. Roll a little less than 1/2 inch thick. Cut with floured biscuit cutter. Place on an ungreased baking sheet. Bake 10-20 minutes or until golden brown.
