4 c. scalded milk
1/3 c. heaping shortening
1 1/2 Tbsp. salt
1/2 c. sugar
2 Tbsp. yeast in 1/2 c. warm water
8 c. flour

Directions:
Directions:
Scald milk add shortening, salt and sugar until dissolved. Add yeast and slowly add 8 cups of flour mixing as you go. (If you are using a mixer, add enough flour that so the dough pulls away from the bowl.
Rise in bowl until double in size.
Roll out on a greased counter and separate dough into four equal piles. Take one pile at a time and roll out with a rolling pin, start at one end, tuck a small piece of dough over, pound down and then roll dough until it forms a loaf. Repeat process until all dough is placed into loaf tins. Rise until double in bulk and bake at 375 for 35-40 minutes. When you remove it from the oven, brush melted butter on top of loaves.
