2 cups brown sugar
1/2 cup Crisco shortening
1 egg beaten
1 1/2 cups buttermilk
2 1/2 cups flour
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda

Mix all ingredients together and pour into a greased 9x13 cake pan.
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup flour
3 tbsp. butter
Mix until crumbly & sprinkle over batter.
Bake @ 350 for 45 minutes.

I have made this using 1/2 cup and also 1 cup buttermilk. It turned out just fine. It was just not as high but the taste is the same. So if you are short on the buttermilk no problem.
