"The tradition of Italian cooking is that of the matriarch. This is the cooking of grandma. She didn't waste time thinking too much about the celery. She got the best celery she could and then she dealt with it."--Mario Batali

2 pkgs. Crescent rolls
1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. brown sugar
1 1/2 c. broken walnuts
1 c. chocolate chips (add after baking!)

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 375º

Press crescent rolls onto cookie sheet. Melt butter in small pan. Add brown sugar to butter and mix well. Boil for 1 minute and 5 seconds. Pour hot mixture over crescent rolls and spread evenly, working quickly before toffee sets up. Sprinkle broken walnuts over top and bake at 375.º for 8-10 minutes until golden brown.

Remove from oven and immediately sprinkle with chocolate chips. Once chips have softened, drag tip of knife back and forth across the length of the pan- but don't spread it into a solid layer! When cooled, cut into squares.
