Directions:
Butter sides of heavy 3-quart saucepan. In it combine 2 cups granulated sugar, 1 cup light molasses, and 1/4 cup water. Heat slowly, stirring constantly, till sugar dissolves. Bring to boiling; add 2 teaspoons vinegar; cook to soft crack stage (270 degrees.)

Remove from heat; add 2 tablespoons butter and sift in 1/2 teaspoon soda; stir to mix. Pour into buttered 15 1/2" x 10 1/2" x 1" inch pan. Use spatula to turn edges to center. Cool till comfortable to handle. Butter hands; gather taffy in ball and pull with fingertips. (We would do this together.) When light tan color and hard to pull, cut in fourths. Pull each piece into long strands about 1/2" thick. With buttered scissors, quickly snip in bite-size pieces. Wrap each piece in clear plastic wrap.
