Cake:
3/4 c. lard (melted)
1 c. dark molasses
3/4 c. brown sugar
2 eggs
2 tsp. ginger
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp nutmeg
2 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 c. hot water mixed with 1 tsp. baking soda

Hot Lemon Sauce:
1 c. sugar
2 c. boiling water
2 T. cornstarch

2 T. margarine
1 tsp. lemon extract OR 3 tsp. lemon juice

Directions:
Directions:
Mix cake ingredients in order. Pour into greased 9X13 pan. Bake @ 375º for 40 minutes. Serve with Hot Lemon Sauce: for sauce, boil sugar, water and cornstarch for 5 minutes, then add the margarine and extract or lemon juice. Spoon over gingerbread cake while still warm.
