Fresh homegrown tart red cherries or use frozen or canned (If you use the latter add a box of cherry jello and extra water).
Dumplings:
1 cup water
1/2 cup butter
1/4 tsp. salt
1 cup flour
4 eggs

Directions:
Directions:
Cover cherries with water and add enough sugar for your taste. Bring to a boil and drop the dumplings by soupspoonfuls into the cherries.*cook covered about ten minutes.* Turn off heat and let rest another ten minutes.
To make dumplings, bring water and butter to a boil. Add salt and flour and stir until it forms a ball and cleans the pan. Let cool. Add eggs one at a time beating well after each. When adding dumplings, dip the spoon into the cherry liquid before each measurement. The dough will release easily.
