1 stick margarine
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1/2 cup plain flour
1/2 t baking soda (or use self-rising flour)
1/2 cup cocoa
1 t vanilla

Grease pan.
Bake 35 minutes at 325

Icing - optional
Melt 2 Tbsp butter or margarine in medium pan.
Stir in 1 Tbsp cocoa until dissolved.
Add 1 cup confectioner's sugar. 1 Tbsp milk and 1 tsp vanilla.
Stir until smooth.
Add more milk if necessary to make soft enough to spread.
Frost brownies, let set until firm.
