2 sticks butter
3 c. sugar
2 tsp. vanilla flavoring or 1 tsp. coconut flavoring
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 c. sweet milk
1/2 c. shortening
5 eggs
3 c. plain flour
1/2 tsp. salt


1/2 c. powdered sugar
1 tsp. butter
1/8 c. hot milk
1/2 tsp. almond flavoring

Cream butter and shortening, add sugar and mix well. Beat in eggs, one at a time. Combine flour, baking powder & salt. In alternating proportions add flour mixture and milk to creamed butter & shortening. Add flavoring last. Bake in greased & floured tube pan @ 325 for 1 1/2 hr. or until done. Mix glaze and pour over cake.

He is the step-son of Melanie (Crook) Hollenshead & the grandson of the late Jack & Dorothy (Bellew) Hollenshead. This is the recipe of his maternal great grandmother, Hattie (Webb) Bellew. He included this recipe in her memory.
