6 T. butter or margarine
1/4 c. all-purpose flour
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. dried thyme
1/4 tsp. pepper
3 c. milk
1/2 c. shredded cheddar cheese
6 c. thinly sliced peeled potatoes
1 1/2 c. chopped fully cooked ham
1 sm. onion chopped or grated

Directions:
In a saucepan, melt 4 tablespoons butter. Stir in flour, salt, thyme and pepper until smooth. Gradually add milk; bring to a boil. Cook and stir for 2 minutes. Combine potatoes, ham and onion; place half in greased 2 1/2 quart baking dish. Top with half of the sauce mixture, sprinkle 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese, add other half of potatoe ham mixture and top with other 1/2 of sauce. Cover and bake at 375 for 65-70 minutes or until potatoes are almose tender. Dot with the remaining butter. Bake, uncovered, 15 to 20 minutes longer or until potatoes are tender.
