1 - 1 1/2 lb. Italian sausage
2 (8 oz.) cans tomato sauce
2 (6 oz.) cans tomato paste
1-2 cloves garlic, minced
1 c. water
1 tbsp. dried basil
1 tbsp. dried oregano
1 tbsp. sugar
1 tsp. salt
Cheese mixture:
1 lb. ricotta cheese
12 oz. cottage cheese
1/2 c. freshly grated Parmesan cheese
1/4 - 1/2 tsp. pepper
2 tbsp. chopped fresh parsley
2 eggs, beaten
1 tsp. salt
8 oz. pkg. uncooked lasagna noodles
1 - 1 1/2 lb. Mozzarella cheese

For sauce: Brown sausage in Dutch oven; drain well. Add remaining sauce ingredients and simmer to blend flavors.
For cheese mixture: Combine cheese mixture ingredients and set aside.
To assemble, cover bottom of 9 x 13 in. pan with 1/4 of the sauce. Arrange 1/2 of pasta over sauce. Top with 1/4 of sauce, then 1/2 of cheese mixture, then 1/2 of Mozzarella. Spread with 1/4 more sauce. Repeat layers (pasta, remaining cheese mixture, remaining Mozzarella) and end with sauce. Cover with foil and bake at 375 for 30-35 min. longer. Let stand 10-15 min. Cut into squares to serve.
