1/3 c. shortening (Crisco)
1/3 c. butter
2 c. sugar
2 eggs
3 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 3/4 c. buttermilk
2 medium apples

1/2 c. flour
1/2 c. brown sugar
1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
3 T. butter
1/2 c. pecans

Beat shortening, butter and sugar until fluffy. Add eggs. Add dry ingredients to creamed mixture alternately with buttermilk. Spoon half of batter into greased 9 x 13 pan; top with apples and then remaining batter. Sprinkle topping over batter. Bake for 45 minutes in a 350 oven.
