Ingredients:
Ingredients:
cucumbers, peeled, sliced lengthwise

3 c. white vinegar
1 Tbsp. canning salt
1 tsp. celery seed

3 c. sugar
1 tsp. turmeric
1 tsp. mustard seed
1 c. water

Directions:
Directions:

Put cucumbers in jars. (I use quart jars.) Mix all other ingredients and heat until sugar is dissolved.

Pour hot syrup over cucumbers. Cold pack 3 - 5 minutes in boiling water bath.

You may use cucumbers that are too large for table use. You will need to remove the seeds.

The recipe gets its name from the turmeric which causes the pickles to become a pale yellow. Also, the cucumbers have the shape of a banana.
