1 to 1 1/2 pounds ground beef
2 tsp. sugar
2 cups diced potatoes
1 lrg. bay leaf, crumbled
2 to 3 cups diced carrots
1 tsp. garlic salt
1 cup diced celery
3 1/2 tsp. salt
2 chopped onions or 3 Tbsp. dry
dash pepper
2 Tbsp. chopped parsley
1/4 cup barley or rice
2 cups tomatoes
1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
6 cups water

Brown meat & drain; add remaining ingredients. Simmer 2 1/2 to 3 hours until vegetables are tender.
